  • Friday evening live patient observation clinics with an experienced homeopath provide observation hours towards CHC requirements
  • 2005-06 tuition $4500, payable in installments and by Mastercard/Visa

Discussion:
The Clinical Supervision Program is intended for students who have had two years or more of classroom study (for example through the Teleosis Professional Program) and need to further develop the skills and confidence necessary to open a practice. We feel that two years of classroom study is adequate for those who want to integrate homeopathy into an existing health care practice. After two years of such a fundamentals program, students can identify those patients in their practice who could benefit from homeopathy and whom they could reasonably expect to help. They will know enough of the common polychrests and enough basic case analysis to help the majority of such patients. They will be able to make an educated referral for others.

Two years of study is not sufficient, however, for anyone planning to open a practice in which homeopathy is their only or primary modality. At least two more years of study is necessary, and Teleosis provides this through the Clinical Supervision Program. This program provides an opportunity for students to interview clients, analyse their cases, and recommend a remedy, all under professional supervision. As such, it is one of the very few clinical supervision programs in the country in which the student makes the choice of remedy and takes responsibility for following up with the patient and managing the case (all with appropriate oversight to protect both patient and student).

The Clinical Supervision Program also extends the study of homeopathic remedies, research and philosophy even further than the Professional Program. It continues the Teleosis tradition of incorporating personal growth and self-awareness practices into the classroom, based on the belief that homeopaths can be more receptive to patients if they can become quiet and centered in themselves. In addition, self-care practices and boundary-setting are important to avoid compassion burnout in a homeopathic practice.

Normally the Clinical Supervision Program meets one weekend a month for two years, September through June, with Saturday devoted to classroom study and Sunday to the student clinic. In the 2005-06 academic year, we are replacing two of the school weekends with home study of video cases, with extensive written feedback on the students’ analyses of the cases.

Students transferring into the Clinical Supervision Program from another school may require some additional tutoring time at a reasonable fee to acquaint them with the Teleosis case analysis format.
